Projects boosted by Dyfi Biosphere

13 Jan 2009

Five of the projects carried out last winter with help from the Dyfi Biosphere have been told they can extend their work. The money comes from the Welsh Assembly Government and is earmarked for activities in the Dyfi Biosphere area that relate to either nature conservation or climate change.

The Nature & Conservation Volunteer Group formed as a result of the previous grant is being given an additional £800 to pay for training in first aid and conservation skills. Training is also involved in the additional work authorized for Llandre Heritage Group, who will lime render an old building, erect bird boxes and design an interpretation sign.

Practical conservation work will continue at Ysgol Gynradd Machynlleth and at Ynyslas Gardens, including planting of herbs and of Welsh varieties of apple. Meanwhile, the Centre for Alternative Technology will be able to write a report on the conference they held into the future of land use in a possible zero carbon economy.

The additional £2000 of grant aid is being administered by ecodyfi on behalf of the Dyfi Biosphere Partnership, along with the £875 unspent from the previous round, resulting from one project not taking place.
