One sector of the economy likely to grow is what is often called “environmental goods and services”. On 20th November 2008, an open meeting started to explore the potential for expanding this sector in the Dyfi Valley, where there already is a cluster of relevant businesses and skills.
The event was organised and supported jointly by ecodyfi and the Dolgellau, Newtown & Aberystwyth offices of Business Eye, as part of Enterprise Week and was held after the ecodyfi AGM.
Participants identified the local strength in renewable energy services, but also saw a relative weakness in energy efficiency businesses in mid Wales compared to most regions of the UK.
The four specific areas discussed were energy saving in buildings, renewable energy, food growing and food waste.
